“The way you treat yourself sets the standard for others.” ~Sonya Friedman
We teach others how to treat us by how we treat ourselves. If we don’t love us, we can’t expect others to. We have to learn to love ourselves consistently and unconditionally, not in a conceited way but in a conscious way.
When we love ourselves, we won’t accept anyone loving us less than we love ourselves. When we love ourselves, we won’t accept bad treatment from those who are supposed to love us. When we love ourselves, we believe the best about us, even on our worst days. When we love ourselves, we forgive ourselves for past mistakes. When we love ourselves, we don’t answer to names that we’re not. Remember it’s not what they call you, but what you answer to.
Love yourself the way you’d want to be loved. Be your own first love and others will have to follow or be gone. The love you give yourself is more important than the love you get from others. You set the standards on how to love you. So show the world by showing yourself some love.
